Xabier Goenaga is currently Head of Innovation Policies and Economic Impact at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. He is an expert in the design and governance of innovation policies, on company growth and macro-economic models to assess the impact of regional and sectoral policies. Previously he held various management positions at the DG R&I of the Commission. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Wales and a Master degree in Public administration from the École Solvay in Brussels.
