António Afonso is a Full Professor at the Economics Department at ISEG. Afonso is also the President of UECE - Research Unit on Complexity and Economics, President of REM - Research in Economics and Mathematics, coordinator of the Master in Monetary and Financial Economics, and coordinator of the PhD in Economics.
Previously, Afonso was the Principal Economist at the European Central Bank, and worked as a Senior Economist at CGD, BNU, and at IGCP, and a Consultant and Adviser at the Portuguese Ministry of Finance.
Afonso coordinated projects for the Inter-American Development Bank, European Commission, OECD, European Court of Auditors and International Monetary Fund.
