FIWARE Is Ready for You – Blogpost!

As 2017 gets underway, the European Commission is delighted to have published a blogpost by FIWARE CEO Ulrich Ahle. In his blogpost, Mr Ahle looks specifically at FIWARE's aim to play an instrumental role in supporting the European Commission and EU Member States in building a Digital Single Market by driving the adoption of interoperable smart solutions around the globe.

Supported by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the European Union's main funding instrument Connecting Europe, CEF eDelivery allows European public administrations to send and receive data in an interoperable, secure, reliable and trusted way.

In 2016, CEF eDelivery was delighted to announce intensified cooperation with FIWARE, working towards establishing the Digital Single Market. The sated gaol of FIWARE is to "build an open, sustainable ecosystem around public, royalty-free and implementation-driven software platform standards that ease the development of new Smart Applications in multiple sectors".

CEF eDelivery marked the beginning of this collaboration by presenting at the 1st FIWARE Summit which took place in Málaga from December 13th to 15th.

It is also important to mention that the Connecting Europe Facility makes available up to €300 million in grants until 2020. These grants apply to digital-enablement projects, many of which use CEF eDelivery. All information about the grants: requirements, deadlines, instructions on how to apply and further documentation are available on the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) website.
