About the service

The DIGITAL eID Community Management service aims to facilitate the deployment of eIDAS nodes, the notification and mutual recognition of eID schemes, and the cross-border use of eIDs to access public and private services by enabling interactions and discussions between the different types of eID stakeholders. The service aims to:

  • Enable the sharing of good practices between Member States on node implementation, eID scheme notification, and the integration of eID schemes for access to public and private services.
  • Set up and maintain the pages and spaces that allow discussion and exchanges related to the eID scheme notification procedures.
  • Ensure eID stakeholders are aware of events, news and developments related to eID.

The scope of the DIGITAL eID Community Management Service covers support to the following community groups and maintenance of the associated spaces:

Who can use the service? 

The DIGITAL eID Community Management service is intended for the following types of users:

eID policy experts from Member States - Able to access and exchange information over maintained spaces (eIDAS Cooperation network, eID Governance, eIDAS technical subgroup, eIDAS eID implementation, eID User Community);
eID technical experts from Member States - Able to access and exchange information over maintained spaces (eID Governance, eID technical subgroup, eIDAS eID implementation space, eID User Community);
eID identity providers and service providers - Able to stay up to date on eIDAS eID latest research and state of play in Europe through membership of the eID User Community group.

Benefits of using the service

The DIGITAL eID Community Management service has been designed to provide users with the following benefits:
Online spaces for existing and potential users of the DIGITAL eID building block: enabling access to and maintaining the wiki spaces in which Member State representatives (eID policy makers and node operators) share information on eID, the operation of the eIDAS nodes, and eIDAS eID procedures (e.g. notification);
Support of discussion and decision making within eIDAS eID governance groups: by setting up and supporting the meetings of the eIDAS-eID technical subgroup, UX subgroup, and other ad-hoc exchanges;
Dissemination of the latest eID research and good practices with the eID Community: including indirect users of the DIGITAL eID building block such as identity providers and public and private service providers.
