Taxation: New electronic system for monitoring the movement of excise goods will benefit traders and help tackle fraud

On 1 April 2010, a new electronic system for monitoring and controlling the movement of excise goods (alcohol, tobacco and energy products) within the EU becomes operational. The Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS) will make intra-EU trade in excise goods cheaper and simpler for operators, while also making it quicker and easier for Member States to tackle excise fraud.

Le 1er avril 2010, le nouveau système électronique destiné à assurer le suivi et le contrôle des mouvements de produits soumis à accise (alcool, tabac et produits énergétiques) au sein de l'UE deviendra opérationnel. Le système d'informatisation des mouvements et des contrôles de produits soumis à accise (EMCS) rendra les échanges à l’intérieur de l’UE de produits soumis à accise moins coûteux et plus simples pour les opérateurs, tout en permettant aux États membres de traiter plus rapidement et plus facilement les cas de fraude. Das Verbrauchsteuerkontrollsystem (Excise Movement and Control System/EMCS) macht den innergemeinschaftlichen Handel mit verbrauchsteuerpflichtigen Waren für die Wirtschaftbeteiligten billiger und einfacher, während die Mitgliedstaaten leichter und schneller gegen den Verbrauchsteuerbetrug vorgehen können.
