Srebrenica
We all share the grief and everlasting pain of the ones who survived the Srebrenica massacre. Crying for their loved ones, sorrowful at not meeting again the ones they knew, the monstrosity of a crime committed against people based only on their belonging to an ethnic group – even the 18 years which have passed cannot sooth the pain.
While being unable to provide consolation to the ones who are alive, our duty is to provide justice to the victims, and provide a better future for the ones who survived the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that such atrocities do not take place ever again, and so that men, women and children can look to their future with confidence.
My thoughts are with you today, my mission to work for the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina is far from being completed, and I am determined to continue.
