Commissioner Štefan Füle on a regional visit to the Western Balkans
17/03/2010 European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle starts his regional visit to the Western Balkans on 17 March. In Serbia he will discuss the country’s integration perspective and in Montenegro the EU integration process and related reforms. During his visit to the region he will also meet, among others, Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers, Nikola Špirić in Sarajevo, President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi in Pristina and President Bamir Topi and Prime Minister Sali Berisha in Tirana.
Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy visits Turkey
15/03/2010 Štefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, will pay his first visit to Turkey on 15-16 March. During his visit, the Commissioner will meet with Prime Minister Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu, and Minister of State for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Mr. Egemen Bagis. He will also meet with representatives of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, business circles and civil society organisations. Prior to his visit, Commissioner Füle stated: “I am confident that at the end of the process it will be a new, modern and reformed Turkey whose accession to the EU will be to the benefit of both the EU and Turkey”.
Delegation of the EU in Skopje celebrates its 10th birthday
12/03/2010 Delegation of the European Union to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia celebrated its 10th anniversary on 10 March in the presence of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, representatives of the Government, Parliament, business community, civil society, media and international organisations present in the country. When addressing the guests, the Special Representative of the EU and Head of the Delegation, Mr Erwan Fouéré said: "We can clearly see how much the relations between the European Union and this country have progressed. Today, the EU Delegation numbers 80 people who devote all their time and efforts to the different sectors that require reforms and all this in order to assist the accession of this country in the European Union".
