Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum

Poznan, 28 November 2011 - Commissioner Štefan Füle, today took part in the third assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. The meeting was attended by over 300 representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) from both Eastern Partnership countries and EU Member States.The focus of the meeting was on agreeing a clear and coherent plan for the role of civil society in implementing the work of the Eastern Partnership. The assembly also considered the progress that the Eastern Partnership countries had so far made in implementing key democratic reforms. In his speech to the assembly, the Commissioner recalled the recent Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw, which had set out a renewed agenda for the initiative with the core EU values of democracy, human rights and freedoms at its heart. He also highlighted the agreement to extend cooperation in a range of important sectors, including economic integration.
