Lunchtime webinar - The relationship between tax, social security and labour law in cross-border situations

The EC-funded MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a lunchtime webinar on 2 October 2020 at 11:30 CEST.

In 2018, there were 1.5 million cross-border workers residing in one EU Member State and working in another, representing 0.7% of the total employed population in the EU. The situation of cross-border workers and employers is particularly complex, due to differences in administrative aspects and legal frameworks across Member States. In this context, the relationship between tax, social security and labour law is especially interesting because of the simultaneous application of national legislation in these fields, as well as the lack of connection between relevant EU law.

This webinar shed light on selected aspects and issues of this complex topic. It also addressed a number of practical implementation problems linked to cross-border situations by discussing specific examples. Viewers had the opportunity to ask questions, write comments and share their views. The webinar has been recorded and is available for replay.

Live session: Friday, 2nd of October 2020, 11:30 – 13:00 CEST

Speakers: Jean-Philippe Lhernould, Marjon Weerepas, Bernhard Spiegel

Moderation: Filip Van Overmeiren
