MoveS seminar (Lithuania): Determination of Applicable Legislation: Legal and Administrative Aspects of EU and Lithuanian Regulations

The EC-funded MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a seminar in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 26 April 2019.

The seminar was organised by MoveS in collaboration with its Lithuanian national experts Saulius Jakimcius and Vida Petrylaite. MoveS is an EC-funded network of independent experts from 32 European countries coordinated by Eftheia and Deloitte.

The seminar focused on posting of workers, social security and applicable legislation. In 2017, there were 1.330.000 insured persons in Lithuania. In the same year, 80.000 PD A1 were issued. It means that more than 6% of insured persons were posted or worked in two or more Member States. In January-October 2018 the number of PD A1 issued exceeded 70.000. This shows that the issue of applicable legislation is very sensitive in Lithuania. The forthcoming changes in the Coordination Regulations and the possible decision of Court of Justice in Case C‑477/17 (SWB v D. Balandin, I. Lukashenko, Holiday on Ice Services BV) will have great influence on posting from Lithuania.
