Peer Review on ‘Approaches to integrate long-term unemployed persons', Berlin, Germany, 13-14 October 2016

The aim of this Peer Review was to present the German approaches to integrate long-term unemployed persons.

The number of long-term unemployed persons has stagnated at around one million in Germany since 2011, but with its “Opening up Opportunities - Ensuring Social Participation” concept the Federal Government has stepped up its focus to tackling long-term unemployment.

The event focused on how different measures can be used to fight long-term unemployment and the incentives used to enable job centres to focus on supporting the long-term unemployed.

It also provided opportunities for exchange with other European countries to discuss how effective networks can be established locally and regionally in order to work with long-term unemployed persons and what forms of cooperation are being set up.

This Peer Review was hosted by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Berlin, Germany, as part of the Mutual Learning Programme.
