The second EQAVET peer review in 2024 focused on QA and qualification of in-company trainers in IVET (dual system) and CVET in Germany

Peer reviewers discussed the situation of in-company trainers in Germany, the Quality Assurance of their qualification and how they can be supported to fulfil their important role in the context of the transformation issues (digitalisation, demography, sustainability) in the best possible way

The German National Reference Point (NRP), located at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), hosted their peer review on ‘Quality assurance and qualification of in-company trainers in IVET (dual system) and CVET’ on 25-26 June 2024 in Bonn, Germany. Eight members of the EQAVET Network from Austria, Czechia, Greece, Portugal and Spain participated as peers.

Due to the current transformation issues (digitalisation, demography, heterogeneity, and sustainability) in the dual system, economic sector and society, the qualification of in-company trainers is a key quality aspect for the German NPR. They could be the starting point to deal with these challenges.

The EQAVET peer review was the opportunity to reflect on how to improve the qualification for in-company trainers and support them with the transformation issues to deliver qualitative trainings in German companies.

Peers discussed which qualification content was central for in-company trainers, how pedagogical competences could enrich technical knowledge, the strengths and weaknesses of the qualifications of in-company trainers and how to support and qualify in-company trainers given the current and future challenges.

Read the flash report summarising the main outcomes of the discussion.

Additionally, a separate report containing detailed feedback from the peer reviewers will be shared with the host country.
