Distributary (pay-as-you go) and capitalisation (funding) elements in the new Greek social security system. Transportability of benefits throughout Europe

The EC-funded MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a seminar in Athens (Greece) on 25 November 2021.

The seminar was organised by MoveS in collaboration with its Greek national expert, Prof. Konstantinos Kremalis. MoveS is an EC-funded network of independent experts from 32 European countries coordinated by Eftheia and Deloitte.

The seminar focused on the following two topics:

1. The new reform of the Greek subsidiary pension system.

An integration of capitalisation (funding) elements into the first distributory (pay-as-you-go) pillar or a parallel public occupational pension, based on individual accounts, as part of the second pillar?

2.  Affiliation and aggregation of periods problems and/or exportability of benefits and services, problems for the insured persons moving throughout Europe after 01.01.2022.

The Seminar aimed to clarify implementation issues that may arise and hinder the application of the rules, in the context of the free movement of workers within EU and the coordination of social security systems, by pointing out methods and practices that will facilitate the transition to new data.
