The sector is growing due to increased outsourcing of security services by public authorities and large corporations. There is also more demand for security services at sea and airports, and from private clients. However, cash-in-transit activities (where workers transport banknotes, coins, credit cards, etc. in vehicles or on foot) are declining as a result of the rise in electronic transactions and the introduction of the euro.
