Viktoria Modesta is a Latvian-born bionic pop artist, entrepreneur and creative director, now living in Los Angeles where she bridges pop culture and art with academia, medicine and brands. Viktoria, who has had her lower left leg amputated, first stepped onto the global stage with her viral music/art video Prototype. She is also known for her performances at the 2012 Paralympics’ closing ceremony and Super Bowl 2022. An MIT Media Lab Fellow of 6 years and member of the Young European Leaders programme, Viktoria continuously explores the impact of technology and inclusive design on the future of human lifestyle and culture. Barack Obama chose Viktoria to profile for his guest-edited WIRED magazine issue, and she was recently selected as an ambassador and space trainee for the first-ever inclusive space programme ‘Mission Astro Access’. She is a household name amongst the digital renaissance of futurist artists, working across crypto art, digital fashion and virtual identity. Her ‘Spike Dance’ was collected as the first NFT (non-fungible token) by 3FMusic, followed by a mix of sci-fi IRL (in real life) photography and 3D artworks. Viktoria also featured in two of TIMEPieces’ NFT drops, debuting her avatar. She believes that technology can help create an equal playing field not governed by centuries of perspective and attitude.
