Over a hundred representatives from 21 countries attended the first EQAVET Network webinar, which took place on 16 December 2021. The webinar focused on quality assurance of flexible VET pathways.

Flexibility is a new topic to the EQAVET network and the webinar reflected on challenges and solutions to quality assurance in VET within the context of flexible learning pathways. Three Member States, Estonia, Portugal and Poland, shared their experience in quality assurance for flexible VET pathways.

Flexibility has an increasing role in vocational training as there has been a shift to ensure a more personalised and learner centred approach to VET in line with the needs of the labour market. This position has been reinforced by the VET Recommendation of 2020 which gives a central place to flexibility in vocational training. More widely, other on-going policy discussions around personalised journeys, such as micro-credentials, the Pact for Skills and Individual Learning Accounts, suggest that enhanced flexibility should be at the heart of future policy approaches to VET across Europe.

The webinar has been recorded and is available here.
