The online information session on the Call for Proposals “Centres of Vocational Excellence” for 2022 , held the 7 March, was joined by more than 1.200 participants from 54 different countries.

The initiative on Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) defines a bottom-up approach to excellence where Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions rapidly adapt skills provision to societal and economic needs, supporting the green and digital transitions, as well as the post-CoVID recovery.

CoVEs bring together a wide range of local, regional and national partners from different countries, which together co-create “skills ecosystems” that contribute to regional development, innovation, industrial clusters, and smart specialisation strategies, as well as to social inclusion.

Applications may be submitted until 7 September 2022.

Partnerships for Excellence

The Erasmus+ programme 2021-2027, includes a new action under the title "Partnerships for Excellence", with the purpose of funding the CoVE initiative with an indicative budget of €400 million for the establishment of 100 international CoVE networks during the current programming period.

Background

The first CoVE call in the current programming period was launched in 2021: it attracted 84 project applications mobilising more than 1700 partner organisations from 55 countries.

Due to the high quality of the proposals, additional funding was added to the original budget of €44 million: finally 13 projects - instead of 11 - were selected for funding in 2021.

The selected projects were announced on 16 February, and are now finalizing the contractual arrangements for the kick-start foreseen before the summer.

Considering the success achieved in the previous edition, the budget for the 2022 call has been increased to €48 million, and is expected to gradually increase every year until 2027.
