The European Alliance for Apprenticeships is a multi-stakeholder initiative steered by the European Commission. The originator of the pledge is solely responsible for implementing the actions outlined in the pledge.
Description of the Organisation:REWE International AG operates around 2,500 stores through the retail brands BILLA, MERKUR, PENNY, BIPA and ADEG. It is market leader in Austrian food retail, and - with more than 42,800 employees - one of Austria's biggest employers. The company is part of the German REWE Group, one of Europe's leading retail and tourism companies. In Austria, REWE International AG owns a range of widely known private labels such as the organic brand Ja! Natürlich, clever, Wunderlinge, Da komm ich her!, Vegavita, Chefmenü, Simply Good, Wegenstein and bi good. The company also operates in the tourism market, with ITS BILLA Reisen, JAHN REISEN and Transair (MEKRUR Ihr Urlaub, PENNYreisen and BILLA-Vorteilsreisen). From its headquarters in Wiener Neudorf, REWE International AG not only manages its Austrian business, but also the international food retail affairs of REWE Group (Organisational Unit Handel International). Via supermarket retail brand BILLA the company is represented in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine, via discount retail brand PENNY in Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Romania and with the drugstore retail brand BIPA in Croatia. In 2017 for the organisational unit Handel International worked about 83,000 people, more than 4,000 stores generated a gross net turnover of EUR 13,35 billion in Austria and abroad.
