Mobility of Apprentices in Europe: A two day conference

The conference ‘Mobility of Apprenticeships in Europe’, co-organised by the Commission and the Parliament in Brussels on 21-22 March brought together various stakeholder groups to approach the topic of apprenticeships from different perspectives, by sharing experiences and good practices.

Jean Arthuis, Member of European Parliament, opened the conference together with Commissioner Marianne Thyssen. The first day was closed by Joost Korte, Director-General, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, European Commission. Download the final agenda of the conference.

The conference approached the topic from different perspectives, by sharing experiences and good practices of various projects under Erasmus+ and beyond, taking stock of challenges to mobility and finding solutions and recommendations for the future. It brought together various stakeholder groups, such as Erasmus+ national agencies, representatives from the European Parliament pilot project on long-term mobility for apprentices, members of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA), youth representatives from the European Apprentices Network (EAN), The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) and EuroApprentices, as well as other EU representatives and national policy makers.

The conference included panel discussions, networking opportunities, workshops, presentations and Q&A sessions via the sli.do app, as well as an engaging role-play from the European Apprentices Network (EAN). The event was closed by Manuela Geleng, Director, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, followed by a welcoming ceremony for new EAfA members.
