European Alliance for Apprenticeships high-level event 2014 - Unleashing untapped potential: apprenticeship as a response to labour shortages

As Europe faces significant labour and skills shortages, apprenticeships have emerged as an important solution to bridge the skills gap and ensure a sustainable workforce for the future. The European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) stands at the forefront of this mission, driving initiatives and creating opportunities across Europe.

Shaping the future of apprenticeships in Europe

Since its creation in 2013, the EAfA has fostered collaboration between governments, businesses, and education providers to promote high-quality apprenticeships. With a current membership of more than 440 and a thriving LinkedIn community of over 3,500 professionals, the Alliance is helping to shape the future of apprenticeships in Europe.

Over 2.5 million apprenticeship places have been offered through EAfA members, offering young people across Europe the opportunity to develop their skills and gain practical experience.

The Alliance's annual high-level event continues to grow. Last year, it attracted around 500 participants both in-person and online, reflecting the increasing interest in and commitment to apprenticeships across Europe.

Join the conversation

At the Get Together event In June 2023, EAfA launched its Communities initiative. These Communities are hubs of activity, posting regularly in the EAfA LinkedIn group and delivering thematic webinars that provide a platform to share insights and best practices with other members.

Communities aim to foster the quality and availability of apprenticeships by providing:

  • an opportunity for EAfA members to reflect and collaborate on transversal key themes for apprenticeships;
  • a tool to stimulate interactivity and to deepen the networking opportunities of EAfA members;
  • a space to exchange knowledge and best practices among peers.
