EAfA podcast: Apprenticeships − an effective pathway to career success for the youth

We are excited to announce that on 8 February, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) will publish its first podcast episode. This will be the first of a series of four episodes, each of which will focus on a different topic related to EAfA’s four objectives: supply, quality, image and mobility.

Commissioner Nicolas Schmit looking directly at camera

In the first episode of the EAfA podcast, we will be joined by the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, who will tell us about the idea behind the European Year of Youth 2022 and how the EU is supporting Member States in tackling youth unemployment. The Commissioner will also address the benefits of apprenticeships and explain the role of key actors, including apprentices, in providing quality and effective apprenticeships across the EU.

The episode will be hosted by Ana Carrero, Deputy Head of the Vocational Education and Training Unit in the European Commission, with thematic expert Andrew McCoshan facilitating the discussion.

With this new podcast series, EAfA aims to:

  • spread knowledge on how to strengthen the quality, supply and image of apprenticeships in Europe, and how to effectively promote the mobility of apprentices;
  • promote good practice exchange and put inspiring practices in the spotlight;
  • widen and diversify the reach of EAfA’s activities.

The podcast episodes will be 25-30 minutes long and recorded in English. Each episode will be hosted by an expert in the field who will interview guests from the public and private sectors from across Europe.

The first episode will be uploaded on EAfA’s channel on Soundcloud and Spotify.
