MoveS seminar (Latvia): Posting of workers in the context of free movement and coordination of social security

The MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a seminar in Riga (Latvia) on 26 October 2018.

The seminar was organised by MoveS in collaboration with its Latvian national experts, Ruta Zilvere and Kristine Dupate. MoveS is an EC-funded network of independent experts from 32 European countries coordinated by Eftheia and Deloitte.

The seminar concentrated on posting of workers and social security coordination. On the free movement of workers side, the reform of posting of workers (new Directive amending Directive 96/71/EC) was discussed. Particular attention was paid to the increasing number of third-country nationals employed in Latvia and posted to other Member States. On the social security side, recent developments concerning draft Regulations on the Coordination of Social Security Systems and relationship between the Regulations and the Posting of Workers Directive as well as recent case law on the role of the certificate A1 and ‘sincere’ cooperation of institutions were examined.
