New tools to support outreach to non-registered young unemployed

The numbers of young people in contact with Youth Guarantee providers have risen in Finland, Latvia, Portugal and Romania following communication and outreach campaigns in the past four months.

Awareness-raising activities for the Youth Guarantee were piloted in those four countries from March 2015. They are run by the European Commission working in close cooperation with national authorities, tailoring it to the local requirements.

An increase in website visits for Youth Guarantee pages was amongst the results of a host of activities. These included partnerships with festivals in Romania, with the football Finish Premier League club HIFK, with Portuguese video bloggers, cooperation with the job search portal bestjobs.ro, an application featured on the social medium Draugiem in Latvia, a radio spot aired in Finland and Latvia, and placement of posters in public spaces.

New toolkit

An electronic toolkit, with visual material and an explanation of the concept, is now at the disposal of all the Member States that want to use it. It can be used by national, regional and local public authorities in charge of implementing the Youth Guarantee, free of charge and under specific conditions.

In addition, the Commission is supporting Member States’ efforts through a call for proposals on “Information sharing and outreach activities to young people about Youth Guarantee offers”, open until 14 August.
