Take inspiration from the new PES practices published in 2022

The European Network of Public Employment Services shared 15 new, innovative and inspiring practices on its PES Practices database in 2022. Take a moment to explore the latest PES approaches to supporting the integration of vulnerable and young people into the labour market, skills development, using data to improve PES services and more.

The PES Practices Database of the European PES Network contains more than 250 examples of inspiring practices developed by Public Employment Services (PES) across Europe. Search by keyword, country or year to find practices relevant to your field of work and reflect on whether similar initiatives could work in your country.

Amongst the latest practices uploaded in 2022, discover innovative approaches to supporting young people’s entry to the labour market, including: activation of young NEETs (people not in education, employment, or training) in Romania; subsidised on-the-job training for young unemployed persons in Slovakia; and a new way of collaborating and co-creating with young users to better understand their needs in Norway.

Take inspiration from creative ways of integrating vulnerable groups into the labour market with Sweden’s job-matching method and Germany’s subsidised employment and holistic employment support, both targeted at individuals who are distant from the labour market; as well as subsidised on-the-job training for vulnerable groups in Slovenia; and France’s local committees creating employment for the long-term unemployed.

Learn more about the latest digital solutions for improving PES service delivery, including Portugal’s piloting a new digital profiling system a close cooperation between the PES and a scientific organisation; Spain’s ‘employment observatory’ for identifying and analysing labour market trends; a skills forecasting system in Estonia; and performance-based digital dashboards, enabling evidence-based decision-making within the PES in the Belgian VDAB.

Explore also various initiatives related to the promotion of skills development, such as the Danish practice of increased unemployment benefits for participants in re-skilling programmes in shortage areas; Portugal’s promotion of digital training for employees and digital transformation of employers; HR programmes for PES staff competence development in the Belgian VDAB; and Dutch support and training for people who became unemployed due to COVID-19, through regional labour market transition teams.
