The ROSETTA project, a three-year initiative funded by the EU's Horizon Europe Programme, recently held its kick-off meeting to launch efforts aimed at reducing food waste linked to strict marketing standards. The meeting gathered 17 partners from eight countries, including representatives from academia, industry, and government, to discuss project objectives, pilot studies, and collaborative strategies. Participants explored the significant impact of marketing standards on food waste and laid the groundwork for five Multi-Actor Innovation Platforms that will engage key stakeholders across the food value chain. With a focus on four key commodities—fruits & vegetables, cereals, meat, and dairy products—ROSETTA aims to develop sustainable solutions and policy recommendations that support the EU's Farm to Fork strategy. The meeting marked a crucial step in fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among partners committed to tackling food waste in Europe.
