After two years of work, a sector-specific dialogue forum coordinated by WWF Germany and funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture as part of the National Strategy for Food Waste Reduction, decided on a target agreement on the reduction of food waste in the away-from-home catering sector.

In the agreement, the signatories pledge to achieve a 30 percent reduction in food waste by 2025 and 50 percent by 2030. This targets base on the General Agreement on the Reduction of Food Waste signed in March 2020.

The target agreement, which sets out respective measures to reduce food waste as well, covers the breadth of this sector, from company canteens and hotels to hospitals, retirement homes and schools.

Name of organisation : Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany
