Croatia launches two new sectorial manuals for food waste reduction

The Croatian Ministry of Agriculture in 2021 has published 2 sectorial guides for primary production and for the prevention of food waste and 2 guides (primary production and food processing sector) were published in January 2022.

The Guide for food waste reduction in primary production is intended for the food producers in the first stage of the food suply chain, to help understand the causes of food waste generation, including losses in the fields, and to give suggestions to reduce food losses and waste, which can reduce costs and have a positive impact on the environment.

The Guide for food waste reduction in food processing sector is intended for the food industry to help identify and understand reasons of food waste occurrence at individual stages of the production process, including recommendations for its prevention and reduction.
