Interreg Med Project helps European communities fight the climate crisis

To help Mediterranean regions increase renewable energy use and develop local businesses, the Compose project set up 15 small-scale demonstration projects in 11 countries. These included installing energy-saving measures in public buildings and conducting awareness-raising campaigns for residents about energy efficiency. An open access web tool was developed that planners and policy makers can use to implement their own ‘green’ economy initiatives with community support. Check out new Smart Regions episode!

 
Commission finds Apple and Meta in breach of the Digital Markets Act

On wednesday 23 of April, the European Commission found that Apple breached its anti-steering obligation under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and that Meta breached the DMA obligation to give consumers the choice of a service that uses less of their personal data. Therefore, the Commission has fined Apple and Meta with €500 million and €200 million respectively.

The Call for evidence to contribute to the EU agenda for cities is open

This initiative will put forward an EU agenda for cities that takes stock of EU initiatives and instruments in order to streamline the current support for cities. It will strengthen the EU’s ambition for cities by improving processes through which issues facing cities can be better integrated into future EU policymaking.

New targeted amendments to existing EU funding programmes will support faster, more flexible and coordinated investments in Europe's defence technological and industrial base (EDTIB). Cohesion Policy Interreg programme enhances transboundary water management in the Guiana Shield

Interreg Amazonia program is playing a pivotal role in fostering cross-border collaboration between the EU outermost region of French Guiana and its neighbours Suriname, and Brazil through the BIO-PLATEAUX project. This initiative improves the management of water resources and aquatic biodiversity in the Maroni and Oyapock river basins, which span in the Guiana Shield region of South America.
