EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life

On 5 October 2022, The Commission adopted the first ever EU Strategy on Combating antisemitism. The strategy consists of actions around three objectives: • to prevent all forms of antisemitism • to protect and foster Jewish life • and to promote research, education and Holocaust remembrance.

Antisemitism is on the rise in Europe. Almost 40% of Jews have considered emigrating, as they do not feel safe in the EU, 44% of young European Jews report to have experienced anti-Semitic harassment.

On 5 October 2022, The Commission adopted the first ever EU strategy on combating antisemitism.

The strategy consists of actions around three objectives:

  • to prevent all forms of antisemitism
  • to protect and foster Jewish life
  • and to promote research, education and Holocaust remembrance.

Among other concrete actions, under the Strategy EU funds will be made available to better protect public spaces and places of worship.
