Antisemitism is on the rise in Europe. Almost 40% of Jews have considered emigrating, as they do not feel safe in the EU, 44% of young European Jews report to have experienced anti-Semitic harassment.
On 5 October 2022, The Commission adopted the first ever EU strategy on combating antisemitism.
The strategy consists of actions around three objectives:
- to prevent all forms of antisemitism
- to protect and foster Jewish life
- and to promote research, education and Holocaust remembrance.
Among other concrete actions, under the Strategy EU funds will be made available to better protect public spaces and places of worship.
