The European Commission preliminarily found both TikTok and Meta in breach of their obligation to grant researchers adequate access to public data under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The Commission also preliminarily found Meta, for both Instagram and Facebook, in breach of its obligations to provide users simple mechanisms to notify illegal content, as well as to allow them to effectively challenge content moderation decisions.

The EU joined voices in strongly condemning the horrific attack on the Manchester Synagogue on one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar - Yom Kippur - and shared condolences for the families of the victims and the Jewish community while clearly stating its commitment to fight antisemitism in all its forms.

29 April 2025 - At the opening of the exhibition 'Saved to time - Transport of children to Belgium 1938/39', Ms. Katharina von Schnurbein spoke about the importance of Holocaust remembrance and education especially during these times when antisemitism is on the rise.
24 - 25 April 2025 - During two days visit to Luxembourg, the Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, Katharina von Schnurbein, met with the Jewish community representatives to discuss the challenges post 7 October 2023 as well as with Michel Heinz, the National coordinator on combating antisemitism, responsible for implementing the National action plan against antisemitism (PANAS).
6 May 2025 - The European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life addressed the J7 conference organised by Central Council of Jews in Germany. The focus of the discussion was the political trends in the face of political polarization and the fight against antisemitism.
5 May 2025 - The European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, joined in celebrating 250 years of Jewish life in Sweden at the Grand Synagogue of Stockholm, in the presence of HRH King Carl XVI Gustaf and HRH Queen Silvia. Paideia, the European Institute for Jewish Studies, supported by the European Commission, celebrated 25 years and Ms. von Schnurbein addressed Faculty, alumni and students that came together on this occasion.
The European Commission is preparing the first comprehensive strategy to address racism and contribute to a society free from racial discrimination. This initiative will build upon the anti-racism action plan that expires at the end of 2025.
The European Commission open a public consultation on the 'European Democracy Shield'. 9 - 10 April 2025 - Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, paid a country visit to Portugal. It was encouraging to see the determination of Portugal to put forward a strategy on combating antisemitism with concreate actions in it.
The European Commission launched the Call for Evidence and Open Public Consultation on the new LGBTIQ equality strategy. The consultation is available on the Have Your Say Portal until 24 June 2025. Contributions from citizens, public authorities, CSOs, and the private sector to help identify areas requiring further EU-level action.
10 February 2025 - Addressing the OSCE conference in Helsinki, Katharina von Schnurbein, Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, presented the work of the European Commission in combating the complex phenomenon and manifestations of antisemitism and the main threats it poses to Jewish individuals and communities.
