Each year the Social Policy Association (SPA) calls for nominations for its annual SPA Awards, to be announced at the SPA Annual Conference in July.
This year’s ‘Cambridge University Press Award for Excellence in Social Policy Scholarship – Journal of Social Policy’ was won by H. Xavier Jara Tamayo and Daria Popova, for their article on ‘Second Earners and In-Work Poverty in Europe’.
The aim of this paper was to quantify the impact of second earnership on the risk of in-work poverty and the role of the tax-benefit system in moderating this risk, using EUROMOD. In order to assess the role of second earners in preventing in-work poverty the authors simulated a counterfactual scenario where second earners become unemployed.
Our sincere congratulations to the authors for their impactful work with our joint model!
