My professional path has been deeply rooted in academia, where I've had the privilege of working in several countries from Greece and Sweden to receiving my PhD in France. I've spent a considerable portion of my career immersed in the dynamic world of geospatial data science, artificial intelligence, and the captivating field of natural hazards and risks. I’m eager to make a meaningful impact, grow professionally and personally within this dynamic and multicultural environment I've been fortunate to join. Beyond my professional pursuits, I have a deep appreciation for the world of technology, from tinkering with computers to exploring the latest gadgets and tech innovations. I’m also a sports enthusiast, i enjoy hiking and trying different methods of coffee brewing.

Ciao! I'm Paolo and I've joined the CEMS Mapping Team. My expertise is in web development, GIS and cartography having previously worked with LINKS Foundation, ITHACA, WFP and De Agostini Group. I mainly work with geospatial open source technologies and in the past I contributed to the open source project GeoNode. I have working experience in Haiti and Malawi in the fields of disaster response and emergency preparedness. I graduated in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano.

 
Michele Ronco

Hello everyone, I'm Michele Ronco, the newest member of the DRMKC. I hold a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Rome La Sapienza and prior to relocating to Lake Maggiore, I was a Postdoc at the Image Processing Lab in Valencia, where I focused on explainable machine learning to address complex challenges at the intersection of weather hazards and socioeconomic vulnerability. I also worked as a Data Scientist in the remote sensing and insurance sectors. Outside of work, I'm a sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying soccer, volleyball, and climbing. Additionally, I have a strong passion for cinema and dabble in a bit of drawing on the side.
