Online event: Open Source Lisbon 2021

Between 17 and 18 June 2021, Open Source Lisbon, the biggest open source event in Portugal, will take place. This year’s event will be the 19th edition and will take place over the course of two days. The first day will be dedicated to the Public Sector and European Union subjects, while the second will examine the Open Source Mindset in a Shifting World.

Open Hardware 101: An Introduction for Policymakers

The increased dynamism of Open Hardware should be taken into account from a policy perspective, and place a central role in any future-looking strategies. Ranging from 3D printing, the makerspace movement, collaboratively designed ventilators and medical appliances during the COVID-19 crisis to open chip design, Open Hardware has proven it is already disrupting the established production processes. In this event, speakers will provide attendees with a comprehensive, policy-focused introduction to Open Hardware.

The webinar will cover the journey from data validation to conformance testing and will include interesting use cases from National Public Administrations.

 
Online event: FIWARE Smart Fest

Between 8 and 10 June 2021, the FIWARE open source community is hosting the FIWARE Smart Fest. This three-day global event is a virtual conference dedicated to open source software, featuring four “deep dive” sessions on Smart Cities, Smart Industry, Smart AgriFood and Smart Energy, and presentations of FIWARE use cases.

Between 6 and 9 June 2021, the 2021 edition of the FOSSGIS Conference will be organised online. This four-day event provides users and developers a meeting place to discuss and exchange ideas on open source software and open data, with a focus on geographic information systems and on the OpenStreetMap project.

The European Open Source & Free Software Law Event (EOLE) aims to promote the sharing and dissemination of legal knowledge related to free software, as well as the development and promotion of good practices. In light of the COVID-19 public health crisis, the usual one-day conference has been divided into seven webinars. The final session takes place on 2 June at 11.30 - 13.00 CET.

On 25 May 2021 between 9:00-10:30AM CET, OpenNebula is hosting an online event on how open source cloud technologies can help the European Union reach its digital transformation goals, particularly in relation to accelerating the digitalisation of public administrations and businesses. On 12 May 2021, the 17th International Conference on Open Source Systems (OSS), also known as OSS 2021, will take place. The event provides an international forum where diverse professionals from academia, industry and public administrations can come together and discuss FLOSS initiatives. The event will address the use of FLOSS in large organizations, including private for-profit corporations, major non-profit organizations and large public administrations.

The EOLE aims to promote the sharing and dissemination of legal knowledge related to free and open source software (FOSS) licences, as well as the development and promotion of good practices in the field. This upcoming session is focussed on open source programme offices (OSPOs). Although OSPOs cover a wide range of knowledge and activities, this event focusses on legal aspects. Online registration is compulsory and free of charge.
