Non-Performing Loans Advisory Panel renews its membership

The new composition of DG FISMA’s Non-Performing Loans (NPL) Advisory Panel – an informal Commission expert group set up in June 2021 to support the implementation of the Commission’s 2020 NPL Action Plan – has been published in the Register of Commission Expert Groups. Since its creation, the Panel has provided valuable expert advice and market insight, contributing to the swift advancement of several initiatives under the Action Plan. It has also delivered independent research and analysis on developments in the EU secondary market for NPLs.

In its new configuration, the Panel will continue to support the Commission in overseeing the implementation of the NPL Directive, monitoring emerging market developments and trends – including the integration of AI tools – and exploring ways to enhance the proportionality of the EU legal framework in the area of NPLs.

The Panel brings together a broad range of stakeholders representing all key segments of the NPL ecosystem, including banks and banking associations, asset managers, platforms, advisory firms, credit servicers, fintech companies, consumer organisations, and academia. The European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority will continue to participate as observers.
