Structured dialogue

On 24 January 2023, Commissioner McGuinness gave the opening remarks at the structured dialogue with the European Parliament’s ECON Committee. Ms McGuinness began with the subject of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, mentioning the nine sanctions packages already adopted and stressing the EU's continuing support for Ukraine. She then gave a brief run-down of some ongoing initiatives, including anti-money laundering, Capital Markets Union, and sustainable finance. Ms McGuinness also touched on the retail investment strategy. Here, she went into some more detail about the issue of financial advice and the debate surrounding the idea of a possible ban on inducements.
