Fifth Annual Forum on Endocrine Disruptors | Brussels, 19 – 20 October 2023

The Fifth Annual Forum on Endocrine Disruptors brought together scientists from universities and research centres and from public (local and national authorities and EU institutions as well) and private stakeholders (industry, NGOs) with expertise in the field of endocrine disruptors to exchange information and best practices, identify challenges and build synergies.

This edition of the Forum included three new items respectively:

  • on the global developments, with the presence of UNEP,
  • on local initiatives, with the presence of national authorities, cities and companies taking concrete actions to raise awareness and tackle the concerns, and
  • on the PolyFluoroAlkyl Substances (PFAS) issue, the so-called ‘forever chemicals’, with journalists, scientists, industry and regulatory authorities presenting the extent of the problem and the on-going actions.

The Commission acted on its commitment to the chemicals strategy for sustainability, towards a toxic-free environment, by adopting new hazard classes for endocrine disruptors in 2023  under the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, paving the way for the identification of these hazards which in turn will allow for the proper management of the risks.

The event gathered 124 on site participants while more than 4000 unique connections were observed for online attendance from 44 countries (EU and non-EU), making it a great audience success. An after movie video will soon be released on the webpage of the event including also the presentations.
