The ministerial meeting concluded in Chennai with the consensual adoption of an Outcome Document and Chair's Summary and of the Chennai High Level Principles for a Sustainable and Resilient Blue/Ocean-based Economy to be included in the G20 New Delhi Leader's Declaration 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his confidence in the G20 countries joining hands to tackle climate and environmental challenges in a holistic way in the true spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One Earth, One Family, One Future. He praised the ECSWG efforts in restoring priority landscapes impacted by forest fires and mining through the Gandhinagar Implementation Roadmap and Gandhinagar Information Platform. Furthermore, he commended the dedication to wildlife conservation displayed during the recent launch of the International Big Cat Alliance aiming at the conservation of world's seven principal big felines such as tiger, lion, snow leopard, leopard, jaguar, puma, and cheetah. He highlighted the significance of Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment, a movement encouraging individual and collective action for environmental preservation. Furthermore, citing an example of community participation, he spoke about “Mission Amrit Sarovar”, a unique water conservation initiative under which more than sixty-three thousand water bodies have been created.

The launch of the Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Industry Coalition (RECEIC), an industry-led coalition, was a significant milestone under India’s G20 Presidency, emphasized Minister Bhupender Yadav. Particularly, Mr Yadav highlighted the success of the Mega Beach Cleaning Event at Juhu in Mumbai in promoting environmental awareness.

G20 and invitee countries actively contributed to compendiums, technical documents, and studies, which will aid in crafting action-oriented frameworks and coalitions during this crucial decade of climate action.

The success of the G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group demonstrates the collective determination to address environmental challenges. As India's Presidency concludes, this collaboration's legacy will inspire global efforts toward sustainability.
