The ‘Energy Prosumers in Europe - Citizen participation in the energy transition’  report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) outlines what it means to be a prosumer—a consumer that produces renewable energy—and provides various successful case studies. The idea that consumers can increase their energy independence as well as strengthen Europe’s energy transition is relatively new but largely positive. Presumption helps cut greenhouse gas emissions while creating accessible and financially responsible renewable energy.
