Resumed session of UNEA-5 (UNEA-5.2), hybrid format

UNEA-5 is an opportunity for Member States to share best practices for sustainability. It will create momentum for governments build on and catalyze impact on multilateral environmental efforts to protect and restore the natural world on which our economies and societies depend.

UNEA-5.2 and its preparatory meetings, namely the resumed fifth session of the Open-Ended Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-5.2) from 21 - 25 February 2022 and the 3rd consultation of the process established under General Assembly resolution 73/333 on 16 - 18 February 2022, will be hybrid meetings, with a combination of universal in-person presence and online participation. Looking ahead to the resumed session of UNEA.5, the UNEA President has re-initiated the consultations process on a ministerial declaration. The latest developments on the draft ministerial declaration as well as inputs from Member States and Stakeholders are available on this dedicated webpage.

The latest draft structure of UNEA-5.2 is available here. Kindly note that the structure is a draft that is yet to be approved by the Joint Bureaux of the UN Environment Assembly and Committee of Permanent Representatives.

Immediately after UNEA-5.2, the Assembly will hold a Special Session of the Assembly on 3 - 4 March 2022, which is devoted to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of UN Environment Programme in 1972 (UNEP@50).
