Top 5 nature and sustainability films to watch over the holidays

As 2021 draws to a close, it is once again time for holiday movie marathons. The EU B@B Platform has prepared a Holiday Movie List - Nature & Sustainability edition.

  1. Animal, directed by Cyril Dion (2021)

The 2021 documentary by the author of Tomorrow (2015), follows teenagers Bella and Vipulan as they travel to meet with scientists and activists around the world, searching for another way of living alongside other species, as co-habitants rather than predators. Released in the cinemas on 1 December.

 

  1. Earthshot: Repairing Our Planet (2021)

The five-part documentary series features the 15 finalists of the Earthshot Prize launched by HRH Prince William and The Royal Foundation in October 2020. Each episode focuses on one mission to repair the planet: Protect & Restore Nature; Fix Our Climate; Clean Our Air; Revive Our Oceans; and Build a Waste-Free World. Available on BBC iPlayer.

 

  1. Seaspiracy, directed by Ali Tabrizi (2021)

From the authors of Cowspiracy (2014), this documentary turns viewers’ attention to the mistreatment of the oceans: unsustainable fishing practices, forced labour in the seafood industry, plastic pollution, CO2 emissions of bottom trawling. Available on Netflix.
