May GPP News Alert

date:  23/05/2017

Dear colleague,

We are pleased to send you the latest edition of the EU GPP News Alert.

In this issue you can read the report just published about the results of a study carried out in the Nordic Countries to identify and assess circular approaches to public procurement. Practical examples have been identified in the report, as have sectors offering a high potential for circularity.

This month’s interview presents the opinion of a provincial energy agency as a multiplier for increasing actions on green public procurement (GPP), particularly amongst local governments. Pablo Quero from the Energy Agency of the Province of Cádiz (Spain) provides us with his first-hand experiences.

Details from three public entities of how they have successfully put GPP into action are also featured in this edition of the newsletter: Province of North-Brabant (towards zero emission public transport), City of Erlangen (100% recycled paper), and the City of Burgas (building a ‘green’ exposition centre).

In other news, you can register for the Webinar on GPP of textiles (coming up end of June), take part in the Strategic Procurement Conference (in Paris on 2 June), read about the first international standard (ISO) on sustainable procurement, and discover the SPICE project on smart transport.

Happy reading!
