As the implications of the decline of nature become clearer, it is increasingly important for the private sector and its key stakeholders (governments, finance institutions etc.) to understand and demonstrate the effectiveness of their efforts to manage their impacts and dependencies on biodiversity. Until recently, the measurement of corporate performance on biodiversity issues has been hampered by a lack of broadly agreed measurement approaches. However, in recent years we have seen the development of a range of measurement approaches that could help address this issue.

On Monday, July 22 (15:00-16:00 BST), UNEP – WCMC (UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre) alongside the Boticário Group Foundation will be hosting a 1 hour webinar to provide a detailed overview of the Aligning Biodiversity Measures for Business project, an initiative aimed at forming a common view amongst stakeholders on the measurement, monitoring and disclosure of corporate biodiversity impacts and dependencies. The webinar will include a discussion on emerging measurement approaches, areas of alignment and the need for common ground between them.

By encouraging the development of more credible indicators of corporate contribution to global biodiversity goals, the aim of this project is to determine a common view among key stakeholders by facilitating a series of webinars and workshops to develop recommendations and guidance for indicator developers, the private sector and policy makers on corporate biodiversity measurement approaches.
