July GPP News Alert
date: 14/05/2018
Dear colleague,
We’re pleased to send you the July edition of the News Alert on Green Public Procurement (GPP).
In this issue read about the results of a recent study on Palm Oil, its consumption and production, and its importance for GPP. The study was commissioned by the European Commission, and carried out by 3Keel and LMC International.
This issue also features a new EU-funded initiative on further supporting innovative and sustainable procurement called Procure2Innovate. We speak to the co-ordinator of the initiative - the organisation which also runs the National Competence Centre for Innovative Procurement (KOINNO) in Germany.
Our good practice case on green purchasing this month is from a group formed by 10 universities - the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia - who recently did an innovative joint purchase of their cleaning services.
In other news this month, read about:
- the opinion adopted by the European Committee of the Regions on strategic procurement,
- the results of a study done in Slovakia about the cost of greener products,
- an upcoming conference in Prague on social responsibility and quality in public procurement, and
- the action plans on sustainable procurement from over 150 Dutch public bodies.
Happy reading!
Kind regards,
