October GPP News Alert
date: 23/03/2017
Dear colleague,
We’re pleased to send you the News Alert on Green Public Procurement (GPP) for October.
This month’s issue features the new brochure on Circular Procurement just published by the European Commission. The brochure provides introductory guidance and good practice tips about how to integrate circular economy principles into procurement decision-making processes and actions.
Our feature interview looks at the European Procure Network run through URBACT - led by Preston City Council (in the United Kingdom) - which brings together 11 cities from around Europe. We interview the Co-ordinator of Procure, Tamar Reay, to ask her about some of the achievements and challenges of the member cities in their work on greening procurement.
The GPP in Practice feature articles showcase
- The use of Recycled Concrete in the construction of new buildings by the City-State of Berlin, and
- How the Municipality of Hyvinkää built the first Nordic Swan labelled pre-school in Finland
In our news selection this month, read the new Communication from the European Commission issued on 3 October called ‘Making Public Procurement work in and for Europe’; register for the Webinar on GPP of furniture; discover Mobility as a Service (MaaS) schemes; and read the latest developments on waste management and procurement.
Happy reading!
