EU Zero Pollution Progress: Achievements and Challenges on the Path to 2030 Targets

date:  10/06/2025

The European Commission and the European Environment Agency (EEA) have published the second Zero Pollution Monitoring and Outlook report, alongside the fourth Clean Air Outlook report.

These reports highlight progress in reducing air pollution, pesticide use, and marine litter, but also underline persistent challenges in areas such as noise, microplastics, nutrient pollution, and waste generation.

To achieve the 2030 zero-pollution targets set out in the Zero Pollution Action Plan, stronger measures and full implementation of EU environmental legislation are essential. The reports are complemented by the new Zero Pollution Dashboard, which provides an interactive tool to track progress across EU regions and identify areas requiring further improvement.
