Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation

On 14 October 2024, the Council of the European Union adopted updated rules on the classification, labelling, and packaging (CLP) of chemicals. The revised regulation aims to improve the identification of hazardous substances and ensure better protection for human health and the environment. Key changes include the introduction of new hazard categories for endocrine disruptors and persistent, mobile, and toxic substances.

The updates also simplify labelling requirements, particularly for small containers, while maintaining high safety standards. These changes align with the EU’s broader goals of promoting chemical safety, enhancing transparency, and supporting the transition to a more sustainable use of chemicals across industries.
