The New European Bauhaus describes itself as “making the European Green Deal a cultural, human-centred, positive and tangible experience for everyone, promoting the transformation and adaptation of our cities all around Europe through beautiful, sustainable and inclusive places”.

Therefore, this initiative has recognised the European Green Leaf 2021 winner Gabrovo (Bulgaria) for Christo and Jeanne-Claude Centre among 20 other projects in the first call for local initiatives.

The art centre has been for 30 years in the making in artist Christo’s own hometown of Gabrovo. The centre has been selected for its New European Bauhaus values in sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.
