The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) has published a report introducing the CISL Biodiversity Impact Metric to help businesses manage their supply chain risks associated with nature. The metric allows businesses to estimate the potential biodiversity impacts of different sourcing locations and different commodities. Because the metric is comparable businesses can identify where their greatest impacts are design their biodiversity strategies accordingly. The metric thus can be used in conjunction with CISL’s eight-step guide to developing a biodiversity strategy.

The supplementary material to the report contains the framework and equation for the Biodiversity Impact Metric.
