The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership – together with Kering and the Conservation Hierarchy Team – has published a primer for the fashion industry on how to develop a biodiversity strategy, that EU B@B considers worth reading and inspiring for many other sectors.
The primer draws on the Conservation Hierarchy, a new flexible framework “designed to help decision-makers structure their knowledge about biodiversity impacts and work through the options for mitigation or improvement.” It guides fashion companies through all the steps of developing a corporate biodiversity strategy – from identifying their motivations and setting the scope for the strategy to selecting actions, setting out a monitoring strategy and implementation.
The primer is targeted at the fashion industry, but it is written in a clear and approachable way and it can be used by companies in any industry who are interested in understanding and improving their impact on biodiversity.
